Reservation & Accommodation
- Do I need to make a reservation?

Yes. Both mountain huts and campsites require reservations.
- Can I make a reservation online?
-
Yes. During the reservation period, online reservation can be made at anytime.
- Is there a reservation waitlist?
-
There is no waitlist. Please check the reservation status.
- What time should I arrive at the mountain hut?
-
The weather in the mountains can easily change and the temperature drops rapidly once the sun goes down. For your safety, please arrive by 3:00PM.
Rooms
- Is there private rooms available?
-
- Hakuba Sanso Lodge has private rooms for 2 (1–2 guests), for 6 (3–6 guests), for 8 (3–8 guests) and Twin rooms (2 single beds).
- Goryu Sanso Lodge has private rooms for 3 (2–3 guests) and for 5 (3–5 guests).
- Tsugaike Hutte has private room for 4 (2–4 guests).
- There are no private rooms in the rest of the mountain huts.
- Can I smoke?

Smoking is prohibited indoors.
- Is there a cancellation fee?
From when do cancellation fees apply? -
- A cancellation fee will be charged according to the following conditions:
- No-show: 100% of the accommodation fee
- On the day of arrival: 30% of the accommodation fee
- After 4:00PM on the day before arrival: 30% of the accommodation fee
- Before 4:00PM on the day before arrival: No charage
- The cancellation fee applies to both the basic accommodation fee and the private room fee. Student discounts do not apply to cancellation fees.
- A cancellation fee will still be charged even in cases of bad weather or poor physical condition, but we strongly encourage you to prioritize your safety and avoid hiking under risky conditions.
- If you are forced to change your accommodation to another hut within our group, the cancellation fee will be waived. However, a ¥2,000 change fee will be charged.
- No cancellation fee will be charged in the following cases:
- When a special warning or weather alert is issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency for the area on the day of your stay.
- When road closures or other unavoidable circumstances make it physically impossible to reach the mountain hut.
- A cancellation fee will be charged according to the following conditions:

Yes. Please choose bento box when making your reservation. You can pick up the bento box the evening before you leave.

- Can you accommodate food allergies?

We do not have anyone with specialized knowledge about allergies, and as we are located on a high mountain, it is difficult to provide treatment or transportation in an emergency. Guests with particularly severe allergies are asked to bring their own food.
- Do you have vegetarian or halal food?

We are unable to accommodate vegetarian, halal, or other special dietary requirements. If you are unable to eat from the standard menu, please bring your own food.
*Vegetable curry and other dishes are available for dinner only, but quantities are limited.

- After descending the mountain, how do I get from Sarukura to Hakuba village?

There is a bus from Sarukura to Hakuba Station.(http://www.alpico.co.jp/access/hakuba/sarukura/)

There is a parking lot at Sarukura, but it is currently closed due to cracks in the ground. It will not be available in 2025.
- Is there a parking lot at Tsugaike?

There is a parking lot for 400 cars right next to the Tsugaike Gondola station. It costs ¥500 per day.
- Is there a parking lot at Goryu Gondola Station?

There is a free parking lot for 1500 cars.
- Is there a parking lot at Happo Gondola Station?

There are several parking lots around the gondola station. Parking fees will vary depending on the season, so please check the rates on-site.
About a 10-minute walk from the gondola station, there are Happo Parking Lots No.400 and No.XNUMX. Both are free of charge and can accommodate approximately XNUMX cars in total.

Campsite
- Do I need to make a reservation for camping?

Yes, you have to make a reservation for camping.
- What time should I check in? What time should I take down my tent?

Please arrive at the campsite by 3:00 PM, check in at the mountain hut, and then set up your tent. [Tent removal time] Oike Sanso campsite, Yari Onsen campsite, and Hakubajiri campsite must be removed by 10:00 AM. Goryu Sanso campsite must be removed by 8:00 AM.
- Can I have dinner and breakfast at the mountain hut? Do I need to make a reservation?

Meals are not provided for campers. Please cook your own meals. You can order a bento box for the next day at the reception.

We do not rent out any equipment or items needed for setting up tents, so please bring everything with you.
Others
- Can I leave my backpack temporary at the mountain hut?

- Goryu Sanso Lodge: We cannot take responsibility for it, but you may leave it for a short period, such as going to the summit.
- Hakuba Sanso Lodge: Please leave your backpack at the designated area in front of the reception and carry your valuables with you.
- Oike Sanso Lodge: We can hold items for guests who plan to return by the morning of their departure day. However, we do not accept items from campers.
- Can I use credit cards, electronic money, or QR payments?

Some mountain huts are trialing limited credit card payments, but this is only available at the shop. Accommodation fees must be paid in cash. Depending on the network conditions, only cash may be accepted, so please make sure to bring enough cash.
- Can I hike with my pets?

In order to protect the rare alpine plants and animals in the Northern Alps, please refrain from bringing your pets. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
- Is there a doctor at the mountain hut?

At Hakuba Sanso Lodge, the Showa University Hakuba Clinic is scheduled to open from late July to early August, but no such medical facility is available at other mountain lodges.
- Please tell me the prices and reservation status for private rooms at Hakuba Sanso, Goryu Sanso, and Tsugaike Hutte.

- If I change my schedule due to weather conditions, is there a cancellation fee?

If you change your reservation by 4:00PM on the day before your stay, no cancellation fee will be charged. However, for changes made after 4:00PM the day before or on the day of your stay, a fee of 30% of the accommodation cost will apply. We appreciate your understanding, as preparations such as food arrangements are made in advance.
- Do I need crampons?

For safety, it is recommended that you bring your own crampons when passing through the Hakuba Daisekkei Glacier. Crampons may also be required on the Tsugaike route depending on the remaining snow conditions and the time of year. After August, this may change depending on the remaining snow conditions, so please inquire.
- Can I rent crampons and trekking poles?

We rent out 4-spike crampons and walking sticks at Sarukuraso. Rentals are available from 5am at Sarukuraso.
There is no need to make a reservation. However, we only have a limited number of trekking poles. If you really need them , please contact the Hakubakan Reservation Centre to make a reservation. - It says that 6 to 8-point crampons are required for the Daisekkei, but are only 4-point crampons available for rent?

Yes, we only rent 4-point crampons. However, many people do use 4-point crampons.
- Can I throw away trash generated on the day of my stay?

We will collect empty cans and plastic bottles purchased from us, but we ask that you take home any other trash you bring with you.
- Can I ride a bicycle or fly a drone?

Please refrain from riding bicycles or flying drones.
- Can you find a mountain guide for me?

We are unable to do so. Please contact the mountain guide association directly.
