HAKUBA OIKE SANSO LODGE

Oike Sanso Lodge

Breathtaking Views Beside a Mountain Lake in the Sky

Located at 2,300 meters above sea level, this mountain lodge sits on the shore of Hakuba Oike, a volcanic dam lake.

The tranquil waters of the lake are home to the rare Japanese black salamander, which hikers may spot if they are lucky. Nearby, the Raichozaka trail—named after the raichō, or “thunder bird” (a local name for the ptarmigan)—is known for occasional sightings of this elusive alpine bird. The area is blessed with rich alpine flora and breathtaking natural beauty.

2025 Operating Period (c): June 21st - October 14th
